Frequently Asked Questions
What should I wear?
For your first dance class, you should wear comfortable, breathable clothing for a wide range of motion. When it comes to footwear, we advise not wearing trainers as they are a little too sticky on the floor, and leather soles may be too slippery! Composition soles are best, something with a smooth sole. But don’t worry too much, whatever you feel comfortable in is best.
Is there a car park?
Yes, there is a car park behind the commercial garage directly opposite the school. You will need to buy a permit from County Dance and display it in your car. Please head to our car park permit page for more details.
Do I need a partner?
We currently run classes on a Wednesday for individual dancers. This class caters for both beginners and improvers.
What is the easiest dance?
The easiest dance to learn for beginners varies with individual capabilities, but we often teach the Social Foxtrot, the Waltz and the Cha Cha to brand-new students given that they have simple footwork and are good for learning rhythm and timing.
Is it too late to learn?
It's never too late to learn ballroom dancing. People of all ages can start learning and enjoy the benefits of dancing, such as improved coordination, physical fitness, and social skills. So come and join us today!
How can I progress?
We offer opportunities for all skill levels. Beginners can progress to improver and advanced classes after regularly attending classes. For individual attention, we provide personal tuition. Though medal tests and competitions are available for measuring progress, they're not obligatory. We also host regular social dances to show your newfound dance skills.
